Stamps with special and coloured cancels
|
Recently I started with a new interest: coloured cancels. Fine covers are preferred, but these
are hard to find. Single stamps are very welcome and send me as many as possible.
I am also searching for any other interesting cancels but I am NOT interested in cancelled stamps
which has not been genuinly used (commemorative covers, first day covers etc.)

Here are 3 examples of modern machins with coloured cancels. Blue cancel from 1994 (unfortunately defective stamp, but
this is the only blue one I have with readable town and date). The green cancel is from 1992 and the red from 1990.
A purple parcel cancel has also been used within the past 20 years. Send me as many as possible with readable date
and town. I will try finding out when and where the different colours has been used.
The examples are modern stamps, but I am interested in classic stamps too. Red and Black Maltese Cross cancels are common
on 1d Black, 2d blue and 1d redbrown, but other colours exists (these are rare). 1844 type cancels exist in other colours than black
(these are not so rare as the MX). Later on there might also have been different colours used, other than black!

Here are 3 examples of stamps used on small islands: Shetland, Orkney and Jersey (#409). The fourth example has been cancelled in a field post office.

I am interested in many different cancels. Here are several examples. An octagonal Natal Field Forces, squared circle (actually quite normal),
dotted circle, triangular, circle with horizontal lines, Foreign Branch, Charlotte Place and finally a
Charles Rideout experimental cancel #2.
